About the project
Mostly female and often blind, in historical and mystical accounts the clairvoyant or seer appears as a paradoxical figure between curse and talent, exclusion and power, knowledge and mystery. What characterises her is her sense of sight, but what she sees eludes the gaze of others and can neither be depicted nor reproduced. The project clairvoyants (AT) revolves around seeing - understood as a (super)sensual ability and as a metaphor for both intuitive knowledge and so-called objective cognition. Inspired by reports from and about seers of different times and contexts, choreographer and performer Johanna Ackva and Blind actress and dramaturge for artistically integrated audio description Pernille Sonne enter a world of inner images during their ten-day residency. They will explore language, sound, touch and movement as a means of building bridges between inner and outer landscapes, shaking up perspectives and activating the entire sensory continuum.
During an informal work-in-progress-sharing at the end of their residency, Pernille and Johanna will share initial insights into their research at the interface between dance, spoken word performance and an interest in inclusive artistic strategies.

About Johanna
Johanna Ackva (*1989, Berlin) is an artist whose work centres on performance. In addition to dance and other movement-based practices, conversations - with experts, strangers and friends - play an essential role in her work, which at its core revolves around processes of embodiment. In (stage) plays, texts, participatory settings and objects, Johanna investigates how the relationship between self and world is continuously reshaped on a material, affective and symbolic level. Since 2014, Johanna's often collaborative projects have touched on themes such as labour and its value, mysticism and experiences of nature, constructions of femininity, as well as death, grief and our relationship to the dead. Johanna also curates exhibitions, discursive events and residency programmes, including for Denk- und Produktionsort Libken, which she has been co-running since 2021. She has repeatedly taught as a guest at Universität der Künste Berlin and is currently part of the Mobile Ensemble around choreographer Isabelle Schad.
