euro-scene Leipzig, HEIZHAUS and 4fT – Tanzplattform Leipzig are offering two masterclasses that invite participants to discover Alexandra „Spicey“ Landé’s working methods and experience movement as a form of expression. Drawing on hip-hop dance and culture, participants will work with Spicey’s distinctive improvisational practice and explore new approaches to music and movement. At the heart of the workshops are the human psyche, relationships, and the question of how emotions shape the body. In this way, participants can experience the intensity and expressive power of Spicey’s choreographic language.
‼️Both Masterclasses are fully booked! The inscription on the waiting list is still open.
About the Masterclasses
Masterclass 1 — Dance Style & Technique Hip Hop
This Masterclass invites participants into Spicey’s artistic universe, rooted in Hip Hop dance and culture. They will develop technical tools and physical approaches through movement exploration, working with dynamics, spatial awareness, movement expansion, and new ways of relating to music. An improvisational practice will encourage dancers to develop their own physical vocabulary and engage with the body in a personal and expressive way. Inspired by her fascination with the human psyche, Spicey invites participants to challenge habitual patterns and explore new physical possibilities through ripples, hollows, waves, and protrusions.
Masterclass 2 — Choreographic & Artistic Process
In this Masterclass, Spicey opens the door to her choreographic process, inviting participants to explore how movement can emerge from ideas, emotions, relationships, and states of being. Through improvisation, movement research, and choreographic exploration, participants will investigate how an artistic idea can be translated into the body and developed into movement material. They will question familiar ways of seeing and moving while experimenting with different physical and emotional states. The Masterclass offers insight into Spicey’s approach to developing choreographic language, from an initial impulse or concept through physical exploration and experimentation toward the shaping of movement and meaning.
Depending on availability, the masterclasses will be led by Spicey and/or dancers from the Ebnflōh company.

About Ebnflōh
Ebnflōh dance company was founded in 2015 by choreographer Alexandra ‘Spicey’ Landé. Its original language and aesthetic are rooted in Hip Hop dance and culture and developed through research and innovation. The company is recognized for its involvement in the street dance community and its contribution to the development of the discipline and its dancers. It creates, produces and presents its work to large audiences, and is active in Canada and internationally. Ebnflōh was finalist for the 35th Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal in 2020 with In-Ward. Ebnflōh (pronounced Ebenflo) comes from the English expression “to ebb and flow” denoting action and reaction, rising and falling, the constant and everchanging movement of the tides. As with waves lapping up and receding, the company’s choreographic language is steeped in its fluidity of movement. With meticulous precision and laying bare the multifarious details and nuances found in its choreography, these densely layered works possess an informed commentary. Spicey’s singularly insightful outlook sharply contrasts with what most of us usually dismiss as being trite, and superficial. With theatre and cinema as influences, among other intersecting disciplines in the arts, music holds a special place for her. Ebnflōh offers a unique choreographic language and artistic vision. The company promotes creative exploration by broadening the field of research for street dance. It imagines new creative processes and new ways to share its ideas about social, political and artistic issues. It is fundamentally committed to creating dynamic, and uncompromised original work. Ebnflōh has created and produced 6 choreographic works (including 2 for webcasting), and has presented them across Quebec and Canada, in New York, Amsterdam, Düsseldorf and Edinburgh. It also produces the annual B-Side event, a twoweek Exploration and Research Lab for the street
dance community.
About Spicey
As a Montreal-based choreographer and major figure of Hip Hop dance in Quebec, Alexandra “Spicey” Landé’s passion for this art was born in the 1980s when she was very young. The symbiotic relationship she has with Hip Hop culture in her choreographic work is the essence of her artistic signature. In 2005, she created the Bust A Move Festival, which has become the largest street dance competition in Canada and is co-presented by TOHU. Spicey has also been a performer and teacher of Hip Hop dance for over 20 years. Wanting to push her artistic aspirations and bring street dance creation to the contemporary stage, she founded the Ebnflōh company in 2015. She surrounds herself with accomplices and peers who fuel her creative process. Today, with Ebnflōh, Alexandra “Spicey” Landé builds a choreographic language that is unique to her vision. Her artistic signature, her involvement in the community and her contribution to the artistic milieu make her a driving force.
