We have tried everything to find a way to keep operating, but unfortunately this has not been possible. Without funding we can no longer rent our studio, pay our staff, or continue our programme. We would like to warmly thank everyone who has been involved, all the volunteers and participants, and everyone who has encouraged and supported us over recent years. 4fT would never have been possible in this form without you!
What does this mean for you?
- There will be no more Profitraining sessions or any of our other activities.
- The studio will no longer be operated and rented out.
- We no longer have an office or set contact people for you to speak to.
Why is this happening?
The federal support we were receiving through Tanzpakt Reconnect, which allowed us to fund our programme and our staff from November 2020, has ended. Despite applications, we are now receiving no funding from the City of Leipzig or the Culture Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
What will happen next?
The current directors of 4fT are continuing work and looking for solutions, as it is important for us to keep this space for dance in Leipzig open, so events like daily Profitraining sessions can be possible.
What can you do?
It is now more important than ever to show the unity and diversity of voices of the scene, to demand a reaction from the city. Talk about the vital significance of the activities offered by 4fT. The best way is to send e-mails explaining the importance of our work. You can write to the Cultural Office of the City of Leipzig, the Cultural Department, and members of the Culture Committee or other municipal councillors. Please always cc us in your e-mails, so that we can bring your voices together at the end. You may want to include the following points in your e-mails, but feel free to put them into your own words:
- 4fT is a fixture in the day-to-day artistic life of Leipzig and it is a vital foundation for our artistic work and for dance.
- 4fT is the only networking space in Leipzig for the professional dance scene, where a national and international dance community can come together and gain visibility.
- Over the last two years we have seen the structures that the association has built up when it receives support. We find it unacceptable that this support should suddenly be withdrawn.
- We believe that Leipzig, as a centre of culture, should enable these kinds of activities.

We would like to thank Bureau Ritter/ TANZPAKT RECONNECT, funded by the German Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media as part of the initiative NEUSTART KULTUR - Hilfsprogramm Tanz for their support over recent years, without which it would not have been possible to run our programme!
