About the training
The class will focus on floorwork and our ability to move in and out of the floor with ease. We will build a shared movement vocabulary as the week progresses, using crossings and repetition to build a solid base that we can then use in phrases. The class will change slightly day by day but will always contain elements of improvisation, crossings and phrases to finish the class. Further, we will look into how we can then take these movements and apply different dynamics, such as softness, to find more fluidity and expansion in our dancing.
About Charlie
Charlie completed his BA in Contemporary Dance from Trinity Laban in 2021, after which he became an apprentice dancer at Phoenix Dance Theatre and then guest artist for their 40th Year Anniversary Tour working with choreographers such as Lost Dog Dance and Dashan Singh Bhuller. Charlie then completed his MA in Contemporary Dance from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance in 2023 and since then has been working professionally as a freelance dancer within the commercial scene with choreographers such as Holly Blakey and James Cousins Company and in the Contemporary Circus scene creating and performing his solo work.
