About the class
We will start each class with a dynamic and energized warm up to later dive into improvisation exercises. Through the week we will work in individual and collective dance scores that will focus on exploring and expanding the movement language of each participant by letting the body be affected by others. For it we will work with touch and ways of assisting each other.
Josefina Maro is born in 1993. I am an Argentinian performance artist, choreographer and producer. My motivation for researching gets activated by the curiosity for generating somatic experiences, digital devices and spaces of encounter and exchange with others surrounded by dance, body and technology. I have formal education as a dance teacher (2011: I.S.P.E.A Danza y Teatro, Chaco Argentina, and 2014: Escuela Integral de Teatro Roberto Arlt Universidad Provincial de Córdoba, Argentina).
I am a founder member of Altibajos Constante Movimiento, an independent dance company from Córdoba, Argentina with whom I worked from 2012 to 2018 as a dancer and producer. Since 2018 I am based in Leipzig, Germany, where I continue to develop my research and work as an independent artist in solo and collective projects. In 2017 I founded together with Dr. Salvador Marino the duo project Post-Organic Bauplan where we work on the development of self made robotic prosthesis for dance research.
I have been selected artist for artist in residency formats at the following institutions: Movement Research at the Judson Church (NY USA), LOFFT - DAS THEATER (Leipzig), HELLERAU Europäisches Zentrum der Künste, VillaWigmann (Dresden), TRAUMA BAR UND KINO (Berlin), META Theater (Moosach), Akademie für Theater und Digitalität (Dortmund), among others.
