Profitraining with Veronika Tikhonova

! krankheitsbedingt leider abegesagt !

!! Unfortunately cancelled due to illness !!

hyper reality class

Bring a stone to the class! A stone that you can hold with one or two hands. It should not be very small, could be any shape and must have a comfortable weight. It could be a stone from your home, or a stone you might find on the way to the class.

The class is an insight into artistic practice that is rooted in post-Internet philosophy and examines the blurry lines between reality and simulation in the current digital age. Participants are invited to collectively explore hyperreal interactions and to embody virtual body qualities—such as gameplay, weightlessness, lack of inertia and gravity, and the concept of rebirth.

The training begins with a warm-up, starting individually and then in pairs, followed by guided improvisation. The extended warm-up combines somatic practices, a focus on breathing, and physical challenges. It begins with participants becoming aware of their own bodily processes, then progresses to playful tasks in pairs designed to heighten muscle sensations.

The improvisation rejects the idea of inertial movement, instead encouraging participants to make deliberate body-mind decisions rooted in their emotional and physical sensations. This practice is a form of deep movement research, aimed at better understanding each person's unique movement character without relying on style or technique as a shield. And open for building the relation to the object with the idea of sacrality.

About Veronika

Veronika Tikhonova, born 1996 in Saint Petersburg, Russia, and based in Berlin, is an artist and dance practitioner working in the fields of dance, performance, and media art. Her practice explores the poetics of posthumanism and the expansion of bodily and sensory experiences. Veronika graduated from the Saint Petersburg University of the Humanities Social Sciences as a "dance educator and choreographer" and completed a course at the New Media Laboratory organized by the Alexandrinsky Theater. Veronika's current interests lie in exploring the concepts of sensual deprivation, acting through inner emptiness, and engaging in unfinished body movements—movements that lead to nothing and movement liminality in virtual and not realities.
