In collaboration with the euro-scene Leipzig 2025 festival, we are offering two dance masterclasses with Manuel Roque (Montréal) and Robert Ssempijja (Uganda). The two choreographers will explain how their pieces were created and present their dance technique and artistic practice. This format for encountering two renowned professionals is aimed at both dancers and interested amateurs. We invite you to discover two very different artistic worlds, both physically and mentally.

About the class
In this masterclass, Manuel Roque will share creative tools drawn from his artistic practice and invite participants to delve into excerpts from BangBang and/or Le vent se lève, two pieces featured in the festival program.
Through improvisation exercises, the group will explore a variety of movement systems that allow freedom and singularity, using notions such as grounding, weight, fluidity, vibration, speed and density. The dance practice will place a particular emphasis on attention - to oneself, to the other(s) and to the surrounding environment, encouraging the participants to refine observation and concentration through tools like duration, repetition, curiosity and generosity.
How can we engage in awareness, with as much rigour as fun? How can we constantly renew the pleasure of movement and connections, and share it? Addressing those questions, the workshop will invite participants to deepen their movement awareness while cultivating presence, creativity, and shared physicality.
